I believe that there is racism in our college, specifically that the black students are being treated in a more hostile manner, getting lower grades than they deserve which is causing them to lose their financial aid, while the white students are getting the high grades and all the support they need to be a success in their chosen programs.
While I am going by what I have heard other students tell me, & I have no concrete proof except what I am experiencing right now myself,
I am wondering if there is anyway this can be investigated.
I myself am experiencing alot of negative
situations which is causing my participation
in continuing my pursuit of my degree in a particular program to be hindered.
Currently I am on hold awaiting the outcome of a meeting that is supposed to be schedule with my Director of the program I am in, the ****istant Director & the Dean of Education, before I can find out if I am going to be allowed to continue in this program or be recommended to make a career change. The strange thing is I only have 3 months
( 1 semester ) left before I finish the program & get my degree.
I have p****ed all my cl****es to date & have been recommended to take a cl**** over that I already took & got a B in, in the guise of an Independent Study. (This was recommended last
quarter, when I again only had 1 semester (3 months) left to go.
I believe this attempt at a meeting to determine
whether or not I should be recommended to continue in this program, is due to personal issues & possibly racial issues, as the ****istant Director of my program who seems to be leading the show, is a previous instructor of mine, who seemed to have personal issues with me.
I am a black female, disabled veteran, currently enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
Is there anyone out there who can advise ?
